Other long-distance experience: We have travelled from the UK to Sweden each February for the last three years to undertake longer distance sledding trips, including camping overnight. In February 2017 we travelled to Ljungdalen, Jamtland to complete an overnight tour in the mountains in difficult snow conditions. In 2016 and 2015 we went to Drevdagen, Dalarna where our dogs have completed their AMCA Working Team Dog Advanced certificates. In the UK we use Kielder Forest and the Forest of Dean to train our dogs on the cart which allow us to complete longer distances.

Why long distance: Because we enjoy spending time out on the trail with our dogs, we learn so much about them (and ourselves) from longer distance trips. We have trained for a number of years to work towards long distance goals and now all of our team is the correct age we would like to opportunity to race, completing the PD will be a significant achievement for us. There are few teams from the UK that express interest in long distance mushing and we would like to encourage and inspire others that it is possible to achieve. We are passionate about working with our dogs.
The strategy for the race: To complete the race with all four team members if possible. To enjoy the race experience and the challenge of long distance racing.
Special dogs in the team: This will be a special achievement for all of our team as it contains our oldest kennel member Bear who was our first male malamute right through to Nome who is the youngest female and is our lead dog.
Other information: We have planned to train towards the PD throughout the coming winter season which includes visiting Germany over Christmas to use the longer forest trails. We are really looking forward to a new challenge this coming winter. Thank you.
